40 Hour working week 8:30 – 5:30

20 days holiday in addition to bank holidays

Salary range – Up to 23K

Location – Hertford SG14

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a for a full-time bookkeeper to join a growing dynamic, forward thinking accountancy practice based in Hertford. The successful candidate needs to enjoy dealing with people as well as the fundamentals of accounting. This is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to learn the accounting trade whilst growing alongside the business. We work as a team so this candidate needs to be a team player but can also take the initiative when required.

Role Requirements

• AAT qualification preferable.
• Experience with FreeAgent, Xero, sage, Quickbook, Iris, preferable. (Training will be provided if not)
• Comfortable with Microsoft Excel.
• Natural attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision at times & prioritise workload around deadlines.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, ensuring.
• Preparation of VAT returns.
• Preparation of management accounts.
• Preparation of accounts.
• Liaise directly with clients via phone and email to resolve any accounting queries.
• Secondary responsibility to help with Payroll and CIS returns for clients.

General office duties:

• Filing, scanning, photocopying and archiving.
• Updating spreadsheets and standard letters as directed.
• Assisting senior accountant with administration duties for major projects.
• Ensure that good practice, customer care and health and safety are fully blended into day-to-day activities.
